It's not necessary to terminate his parental rights.
I'm unmarried, and we have no contact with the child's father or his family. Is it necessary to terminate his parental rights? Read more for the answer.
In Dallas, to change your child's name you will need to file a Petition for Name Change in Family District Court. The father will have to be served (notified). If you know where he is located, this shouldn't be difficult. If his whereabouts are unknown, he must still be served. This will cost more and take additional time, but it can be done.
